Cosmic Cameos are a minimalist collection of screen prints produced at Cork Printmakers by Niamh McNally. Cosmic Cameos captures the natural patterns and textures of our surroundings at very large and very small scales. Repeating themes in the prints are taken from familiar but overlooked objects such as stone surfaces and graffiti tags. These micro patterns are combined with images to suggest views at a cosmic scale.
About the Artist
Niamh McNally is a visual artist and graphic designer based in Dublin. She is a graduate of Visual Communication from the National College of Art and Design, 2016. Since graduating college she has been the Designer in Residence at Distillers Press, NCAD – Ireland’s foremost letterpress print workshop. Here, she has been making work using traditional letterpress printing methods and producing screen prints in Cork Printmakers. Her current work focuses primarily on the treatment of textures with a particular focus on contrasting, bold, blocks of colour. Nature and the environment are a big influence on the prints she produces.
